10 February 2012

Pain: 7Still quite sore, with joint pain topping the bill. While the pain isn’t really going, I’ve noted that the quality of the pain is a little different. Maybe it’s the [slightly] warmer weather, or maybe the plaquenil is [slowly] doing its job, but the crippling, excruciating, full of ground glass feeling is fading, ever so slightly. I’m not totally willing to trust in that yet – I’ve still got a couple of weeks before it takes full effect – but maybe, just maybe, it’s starting.

I’ve also noticed that I don’t need to apply the voltaren as much. Voltaren had turned into a way for me to cope with the pain between one dose and the next. I’m finding I need that less and less. I suppose the next thing is the tylenol, but I’m going to wait until this plaquenil kicks in fully before I even attempt that!

My hands and toes especially are feeling very swollen and it’s difficult to work with them but the pain feels slightly more diffuse, less sharp. Not much, but I’ll take it – not only for the small comfort but the hope that this is just the beginning and it will dissipate  – maybe entirely?

Up at 2am this morning and, while a little stiff, my hands don’t feel as bad. Who knows what they might be like at the end of the day, but I’ll take what I can get!

Went out yesterday for some fun shopping. Damp, cold and rainy, my joints ached – especially in my toes, hips and neck – but I made it okay. I did feel nauseous when I got home, but the gravol helped with that. I think I’m still dealing with a cold [or my usual not-flu] – sniffly, achy, headachy, low grade fever – and my rash hasn’t gone yet, but hopefully soon.

My chest, right upper abdom and right kidney continue to hurt – and they hurt worse when I don;t use the heating pad, so I’ve gone back to it. I’m wondering if this is going to continue while the weather is cold and damp? Joy. In Vancouver, that could mean FOREVER!

My toes are still freezing, but it’s not as bad as it first was, so maybe this is passing too, at least for a bit.

yesterday: 300mg plaquenil, 2x naproxen, 8x tylenol, 4x voltaren/tigerbalm, 1x gravol

  1. I know you were apprehensive in starting this blog, but it is very appreciated. Several individuals in our office follow you.

    • I appreciate the read but removed the link to sell stuff, something I’m really looking to avoid here. It seems that when you’re sick, everyone and their dog has a sure fire thing they;d love to sell you to get you better. For the most part, it’s not appreciated.

      • Sorry you feel that way. It really will help you and possibly others too which is why I took the time to post. I hope you stay well. All the best.
